I'm never a comfortable reader. Reading never comes to me as a natural talent, but that has not stopped my desire to read novels when ever I want to. This time on the advice of my ma'am I decided to read a novel. With the help of my mate I got to read Durjoy Datta's "Till the Last Breath". The author started the story in the hospital which served as a prelude to the story going to come. For the most part of the book revolved around describing the role of the characters involved in the story. Among all of them, it was about two patients and there contrasting characters who were about to die. One of them was Dushyanth and other was Pihu. Counting their last breath.
As the story continuous you get to know how harsh life can sometimes be. Reading about Pihu just gave you joie de vivre but then angst and pain too. She was a joyful, nonchalant,a kidult! A absolute genius in terms of her medical studies, topper in her medical entrance should have become the best doctor in the course of time. Always smiling and though she had ALS (Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis) to sink her to slow but a sure death! She always was positive, determined to live. Which surely gave you exuberant joy and refreshment.
On the other bed was Dushyanth completel contrasting to what pihu was. If you felt encouraged to read about Pihu. You surely would have had pity on Dushyanth. He was egregious and left no stones un-turned to die or to get to the position he was in. He smoked, drank alcohol, drugs to an extent where his kidney and lungs almost gave up. He was arrogant, rude and impatient.
The story describes about there past life, there present situation and their journey to almost certain death. The author successfully shifts a boring intro to a very touchy and impressive but a sad ending. A book to read I must say atleast to know how to still be happy in a cruel and a harsh situation!.. keep smiling..
