Hero's to Zero's !

Life is a race where you go through ups and downs. A day will be surely their when you might be at the top and the same life will show you the worst days of your life which  you might not want to even recollect. I being one of those people who literally lives in cricket have to dedicate this article to a team which was once unbeatable. They were the kings and almost won every tournament, every match they featured in. Guess which team it is? Australia, Yes you hear it right. THE MIGHTY AUSSIES OR THE FEARLESS KANGAROOS ruled the cricketing fraternity for approx 20 years.. to be a bit accurate , around 15 yrs.

I remember the 2001 series when the Steve Waugh led Australians entered the Indian soil holding a record of 15 straight wins and as they were no IPL's or T20 then it was so called the Final Frontier for the Aussie team which won everywhere they went that summer. So much was their strength that the so called the Kings of their home (The Indian team) looked the weak team against them. Though what happened after the Mumbai test was sure a history and revival of Indian cricket but that was the time when you shivered hearing Australia's name. And this dominating behaviour of theirs started from way back 1990's under the captaincy of Mark Taylor.

After him came the best captain the world has seen Sir Steve Waugh who actually launched the domination stage of the Australia. Do You Know the greats like Mathew Hayden, Ricky Ponting, Andy Bichel,Glenn Mcgrath, Adam Gilchrist, Damin Martyn, Micheal Bevan, Shane Warne all started their careers or came into the scene under this great captain? And the bid off he got when he retired showed what he meant to his team.

Then came Ricky Ponting who is the only captain in the world cricket to win 2 world cups 2003 AND 2007 was in a way lucky to have more settled and experienced team who knew what is their part in the team. By saying this I dont say that Ponting had not been a good captain. He still had to fit in players like Mike Hussey,Micheal Clarke, Andrew Symonds into this already strong team and he did it like a boss. And surely made the best decade of Australia more auspicious than it might have been.

By saying this I just dont mean that the team was not good. As it is said a captain is as good as his team. The players of that time had that x factor in them, the fearless attitude, never say no kind of trying which made them more special but if the leader doesn't know how to lead the way even the greats might have turned shapeless.

It is in a way very sad and disappointing to see Aussie struggle today not their on field performance which on a good day can turn to their side but the off the field indiscipline which has taken me aback. Irrespective of what the previous decade players where you associated Aussies to be Gentlemen of cricket. As with the on field performance they surely lack the hunger and thirst to win a match. It is surely the end of Australian Domination but surely not the end of hopes. For the time might come when they ll have a rise again.. Lets hope it happens soon!.
